Jambudvipa — The Tree That Named a Land

Ancient India called itself Jambudvipa — “the land of the Jambu tree.” The jamun was that central, that everyday: a tree under whose purple canopy the subcontinent quite literally took its name. In Tamil it is Naval, in Sanskrit Jambu — a tree so woven into Indian life that geography, mythology and medicine all borrowed its name.

What is it

Jamun — Syzygium cumini, the Indian Blackberry or Java Plum — is one of the most storied trees of the subcontinent. “Tamil calls it Naval, Sanskrit Jambu — the classical name from which the Hindi jambul and the English jambolan both descend; its purple fruit stains the summer, and its leaf, bark and seed have all been valued across Siddha and Ayurveda for centuries. Ayurveda classes the leaf as kashaya — astringent — and has long turned to it for digestive and metabolic wellness. We take the pure whole leaf, carefully dried and milled, and present it single-ingredient in a vegetarian capsule — the traditional wellness leaf, clean and ready.

What Makes This Different

  • Pure whole leaf, single ingredient. Whole Syzygium cumini leaf powder — no fillers, binders, flow agents or extract dilution.
  • Leaf, not seed. Most jamun products use the seed; the leaf is its own tradition, and it’s what we use — and say so.
  • The astringent leaf, made easy. Jamun leaf is tannic and astringent to take as-is; the capsule delivers it clean, with no taste to negotiate.
  • Certified base: FSSAI Central Licensed, GMP compliant, ISO 22000.

What It Does

  • One of Ayurveda’s most storied trees. Known as Jambu in Sanskrit and Naval in Tamil, jamun has been woven into Indian medicine and daily life for millennia — leaf, bark and fruit alike.
  • A traditional astringent for digestive comfort. Jamun leaf is naturally astringent (kashaya), long valued in tradition for digestive comfort and everyday gut balance.
  • Naturally antioxidant-rich. Among the plant’s parts, the leaf carries the highest phenolic content and antioxidant activity in laboratory testing (DPPH, FRAP, ABTS), tied to flavonoids such as myricetin and quercetin (in vitro).
  • Traditionally valued for metabolic wellness. In Ayurveda and Siddha, jamun has long held a place in traditional approaches to everyday metabolic balance.
  • Emerging angle — a myricetin-rich profile. Myricetin, the leaf’s predominant flavonoid, is an active area of antioxidant research (in vitro).
